“Project East Anglia Green” Transmission Line

Current status: Non-Statutory Public Consultation is CLOSED

What is the next stage?

According to National Grid, the next stage is another non-statutory consultation which they anticipate late Spring/early Summer 2023

The East Anglia Green Energy Enablement (East Anglia GREEN) is a proposal for pylons and 400kV high voltage overhead cable transmission lines from Norfolk to Bramford, and then from Bramford to Tilbury. It would span a distance of around 180km. Plus a new 400 kV connection substation in the Tendring district.

Due to the proliferation of proposed off-shore wind developments and Sizewell C, the existing transmission network in East Anglia will no longer be sufficient to carry the electricity generated to the rest of the country where it will be used. By the tune of around 15GW!

Non-Statutory Public Consultation

This was opened on Thursday 21st April 2022, and closed on Thursday 16th June 2022.

CARE Suffolk Response

On Thursday 16th June 2022, CARE Suffolk emailed our response to the non-statutory consultation. It didn’t really fit into the format of the NG feedback form. If you’d like to read it you can find it here.
