Statkraft Submit EIA Scoping Opinion Request

Statkraft have submitted their “Request for formal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Opinion” to Babergh & Mid Suffolk District Council.

To read the documentation you can visit the application page here. If for whatever reason it fails to load then please use the search function of the Council website to look for DC/21/02958.

The EIA Scoping Opinion Request is not yet an application for planning permission, but the stage prior to the application. This is where the developer is asking what topics, such as landscape, biodiversity, and flood risk to name a few, should be included in an Environmental Statement. All topics must be addressed within the application, but some need to be assessed in more depth due to extra complications on the topic in the location of the development. It is decided on a case by case basis and on the evidence presented by multiple parties, including the public.

On the Council webpage there is a space where you can leave your own public comment. Simply click the “Make a Comment” button on the right hand side of the screen. You will need to be logged in to your account. Alternatively you can email your comments to planning@baberghmidsuffolk.gov.uk with the reference number DC/21/02958 as the subject. The deadline for comments on this part of the process is Friday 11th June 2021.

The team here at CARE Suffolk will be analysing the documentation over the coming days.
